01Overview
Signal is a concept for an internal dashboard that helps marketing teams understand organic performance without wrestling with exports. It combines Search Console and analytics data to surface pages that are close to ranking well, content that is decaying, and queries that are growing.
02The challenge
Search data is plentiful but rarely actionable. Teams export spreadsheets, build pivot tables, and still struggle to answer simple questions: which pages should we improve first, and is our work having an effect?
03Proposed solution
A scheduled Python pipeline pulls data from the official Google Search Console API, stores it historically, and calculates opportunity scores. A focused web dashboard presents a short list of recommended actions, trends by page cluster, and annotations that connect changes on the site to changes in performance.
04Approach
Data pipeline
Scheduled extraction via the official Search Console API, stored in a database to preserve history beyond platform limits.
Opportunity scoring
Pages ranked by impressions, position, and click-through rate to highlight realistic quick wins.
Cluster views
Pages grouped by topic and template so teams can see patterns, not just individual URLs.
Change annotations
Releases and content updates logged alongside trends to connect actions with outcomes.
05Results
As a concept project, there are no client results to report. If this were a live engagement, these are the measures we would agree on up front and report against:
- Time spent producing monthly SEO reports
- Number of prioritized opportunities actioned per month
- Organic clicks for pages flagged as opportunities
- Data freshness and pipeline reliability
